Let’s shine a light on our own Amy Teal who successfully juggles running her business, ART Catering, alongside still working part-time with hubby Steve in our Cross Hills branch – as well as looking after their four children!
Amy’s love of catering for others was formed early as her mother and auntie were both chefs, often drafting her in to help at their events. Her father was a butcher and arranged her first work experience with us, which led to her working here on Wednesday and Saturdays.
While she was studying catering at Craven College, we offered her an apprenticeship and she worked her way up, winning the hearts of customers with her cheerful personality. Soon Steve was smitten too as they worked alongside each other in learning butchery skills under his father. They married in 2014.
As butchers, we are a natural fit for outside catering, providing a ready supply of top-quality cooked meats for sandwiches and platters, pies, sausage rolls, pasties, scotch eggs as well as steaks, burgers and sausages for BBQs.
That perennial Yorkshire favourite, ‘Pie & Peas’ was always in demand and soon Amy’s natural flair for catering meant she began offering those and more sophisticated buffets for funeral wakes, weddings, baby showers and christenings. Meanwhile local business lunches were fuelled with grazing boxes and platters.
Soon there was enough demand for Any to develop the outside catering as her own business and she founded ART Catering. Utilizing the resources of the bakery, she began offering homemade scones, lemon drizzles and other sweet treats to complement the savoury spreads we provided.
Sharing the same ethos as we do, Amy uses only local produce and champions other independent Craven businesses. She has milk delivered and shops at the greengrocers, explaining “I’m not in it to make millions, ART Catering is my passion rather than a commercial venture. I just love laying on a fantastic homemade spread.”
