About

Established in 1898, Drake & Macefield are Craven’s longest established traditional independent family butchers. Our award-winning shops in Skipton and Settle attract customers old and new who seek top quality locally produced value-for-money meat products.

Present day owners Ian Thompson and Richard Teal, assisted by their talented team, have guided the business through a remarkable period of expansion and diversification.

This has included the provision of in-house cooking facilities for award-winning pies and other bakery style products at the Skipton shop, the development of both existing and new product ranges to cater for all tastes and pockets, and the launch of a second shop in Settle in 1999 to make sure the town retained an independent family butcher’s shop.

A new stand-alone meat preparation unit was also opened in Skipton to cater for growing across-the-board customer demand, while delicious home cured and smoked hams and bacons and ready meals are now produced at the Skipton shop.

Drake & Macefield are much more than traditional butchers, offering local produce for local people.
